Match Report
Both teams entered the pitch wearing their respective home kits, the game started fast with The Braves making a positive opening to the match. A couple of good crosses from McLaren had the away side creating chances from early on.
However Celtic B began to grow into the game, it was pretty much end to end in the first 20 minutes or so. Celtic had a few chances created through youngster Sean McArdle. Braves manager Ricky Waddell stated after the game that The Braves gave Celtic FC B, “too much territory in the first half” which was correct. Celtic got control of possession for a period.
Towards the end of the first half, both sides had created some good chances, but none had the final finish to get ahead.
After the break, the game began to light up. Caledonian Braves started the half much the same as they did in the first. Lennon Walker and Zac Butterworth with the pick of the chances after the restart.
The opener came for the away side on the 55th minute mark, as Calum Biggar got on the end of a good cross, he blasted a left-footed strike into the net to open the scoring.
The goal for Braves meant Celtic B began to push up the park and become a more attacking side as they looked for the equaliser.
Just after the hour mark, Celtic B grabbed the goal to make it level through Robert Rachwal. Braves defenders caught on the break and the midfielder slotted it home.
Following the goal, the Braves were compact and defended well. The introduction of Cameron Breadner was good as he changed the game and created some slick chances.
As the game progressed into the final stages, Celtic B were under immense pressure due to the volume of chances created by Caledonian Braves. They looked the more likely team to take the lead, but the side couldn't find the net.
The game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, Caledonian Braves probably deserved more than the result shows but couldn't perfect that final ball.
The Braves will look to bounce back in a break from league action, as they head to the highlands to face Forres Mechanics in the Scottish Cup First Round next Saturday.
